A GOAL on the stroke of half-time was enough for Ashton United to progress at Hurst Cross, although the visitors may well feel hard done to with the final result.
Clitheroe were first to threaten as ex-Robin Billy Priestly glanced a header beyond the far post and Gary Stopforth’s pass then set Kielen Adams running free, but his lob landed on the net top.
With the interval imminent Louis Almond saw a shot saved at the near post by Chris Thompson, but the rebound fell
to Michael Brewster to roll a shot into the net.
