City of Liverpool win 4-3 on penalties

■ CITY of Liverpool progressed after an uneventful 90 minutes ended with a tense penalty shoot-out.
Stockton Town could have opened the scoring early on through Kevin Hayes, but the forward was denied by a fine low save from Theo Roberts.
The hosts were largely the better side and could have gone ahead through Ben Rydel after a great run from Salkeld, but the midfielder’s side footed effort was well held by the Stockton keeper.
