■ WITTON progressed to the next round after winning a thriller at the Delta Taxis Stadium.
The visitors should have been 2-0 up in the first 15 minutes but missed two good opportunities.
However, Bootle’s luck ran out when the visitors were awarded a penalty and Joe Duckworth converted.
Bootle levelled just before half-time when Sean Smith’s pass found Ben Hodkinson and he made no mistake.
Witton regained the lead just after the break through a fine finish from Joe Edwards and Duckworth got his second of the game to make it 3-1.
