ASHTON United’s poor week continued as they were knocked out of their second cup competition in a week, with Clitheroe taking the spoils at a weather-beaten Hurst Cross.
The hosts were missing injured Jason Gilchrist and Sean Newton and then, 13 minutes in, saw Brad Taylor’s forward pass have too much on it after good approach play between Luke Burke and Mikey O’Neill.
