An early chance fell to the hosts when Nathan Rogers cut in behind before his shot was struck wide of the right post.
Finn Evans then found himself through on goal but was denied by Melvin Minter.
Alejandro Machado nearly levelled for the visitors as his free-kick effort floated under the wall, and forced a robust save from Lewis Gallifent.
However, the Blues looked the more livelier sides of the second half with a flurry of attempts.
