THE merry month of May is especially apt for the Melledews. Thatcham Town captain Tom will lead out the Vase finalists 49 years after his dad Steve helped Rochdale secure their first promotion in the Football League.
“I get reminded all the time about Rochdale,” laughs Tom. “It was special for him as it was his hometown club.”
Steve secured a move to Everton on the back of that successful campaign then counted Aldershot among his other clubs.
