WEST Midland League leaders Bewdley Town bowed out of the Vase at the first hurdle against a well organised Alsager side who inflicted the Worcestershire side with their first defeat of the season.
Bewdley should have bagged a sixth minute lead when Matt Kerby fired against the post with Ben Cortes Smith alert to stop Dylan Hart’s rebound.
Alsager snatched a controversial lead soon after when Ben Boyne headed a Finlay Jackson free-kick into the path of Morgan Palmeria who bundled home with Bewdley players appealing for handball.
