NEWCASTLE Benfield came out on top in this all-Northern League affair after scoring two goals in each half. Dennis Knight scored both Benfield goals in the first period and another ex Newton Aycliffe player, Ben Dibb-Fuller, repeated the trick after the break.
Benfield struck early when a short corner routine saw Dibb-Fuller’s delivery into the box finished by Knight.
The home side doubled the lead on the half hour. Layton Watts’s free kick picked out of the run of Knight, who scored from a narrow angle.
