MIDLAND Football League leaders Walsall Wood cantered to victory in the end but might have paid the price for missed chances.
Kevin Hemagou converted a cross from point-blank range in the ninth minute but Dan Gyasi hit the inside of the post after half an hour and Sandbach keeper Eric Merner saved a penalty on the stroke of half-time.
Wood keeper Callum Smith did well to save a seemingly-certain equaliser from Robbie Hatton with 21 minutes to go before Hemagou got the second on the counter attack and against the run of play in the 77th minute.
