ADRIAN Cambridge’s 37th-minute free-kick found its way into the far corner for the decisive goal.
Luke Brown hit the Brentwood crossbar in the 43rd minute but the Blues started the second half strongly.
Lamar Reynolds hit a post but English’s follow-up header was ruled out. Niall Conroy then saved well from Andy Freeman and when English was bundled over, Reynolds had a chance to equalise from the penalty spot but Conroy saved well.
Blues hopes were further hit by a second yellow card for Nick Hilder.
