FANS’FORUM: ‘Friendly rivalry’ highlights magic of the cup

THE magic of the FA Cup is alive and well, as Monday’s fourth qualifying round draw showcased.
Arguably the tie of the round threw up the unlikely scenario of a Gateshead derby. Dunston UTS, the lowest ranked team still in the competition, are based in the west of the town with Gateshead’s International Stadium in the east.
Although familiar opponents in pre-season, these two clubs have never been rivals as they are currently four divisions apart, but with a £25,000 prize pot at stake, the rivalry on the day will be intense.
