MANAGERLESS Gainsborough narrowed the gap on the play-offs with a dogged victory over mid-table Stalybridge at Northolme.
Ash Worsfold’s late finish from close in was enough to claim a welcome victory. Doncaster Rovers loanee Will Longbottom’s shot across goal was too much for Patrick Wharton to handle and Worsfold pounced.
Prior to that, chances were at a premium for both sides, in what was Liam King’s first game in interim charge of Gainsborough.
