Are fines really the best way?

MY local team, Welwyn Garden City, have been deducted a point and fined £250 for fielding an ineligible player in a 0-0 draw against Aylesbury United back in January. Nothing unusual about that, you’d probably say, but in this case the crime was playing three youth experience players in the same team when the limit is two.
