Ashton United boss Michael Clegg launches new scheme to help released players

ASHTON United manager Michael Clegg says a new scheme to help footballers find work was inspired by his own bitter experience of being released by Wigan Athletic.
Clegg, 36, is the mastermind behind the event at the University of Bolton Stadium, which will feature a morning of 30-minute ‘showcase’ games followed by meetings with employers and recruitment agents from a range of industries.
Aided by best pal and former Bolton player Nicky Hunt, his aim is to sell the idea of a life beyond pro football - and avert the aimless drift to which he succumbed.
