Lights vital to lift-off at Teignmouth

The FA Charter Standard club, who play in the Step 7 Devon League, were granted permission in 1981, but no further progress was made before the consent ran out.

Lights vital

TEIGNMOUTH AFC are set to embark on their long-held dream of climbing the pyramid after being granted conditional planning permission for floodlights at their Coombe Valley home of more than 60 years.

The FA Charter Standard club, who play in the Step 7 Devon League, were granted permission in 1981, but no further progress was made before the consent ran out.

Teignbridge Council received objections from residents on the grounds of light pollution and the impact on the Coombe Valley Nature Reserve, but a planning officer said that the sporting benefits outweighed any harm.
