Elliott Frear is ready to make a big splash at Bath

have signalled their intentions for the coming campaign with the capture of experienced former wideman Elliott Frear.

Frear, 30, won the Scottish Championship title with Hearts last season, and has extensive experience in League One, League Two and the .

“I am delighted to have secured Elliott's services,” said Bath manager Jerry Gill. “He is another player that comes with good experience, and exceptional quality having played at higher levels for the majority of his career.

“With his natural left foot and crossing ability, Elliott gives us good balance in any position on the left hand side of the pitch.”

A graduate of the Exeter City youth system, Frear made his debut in 2011 and featured in 12 matches for the Grecians before dropping into with City and then Forest Green Rovers.

Widely regarded as one of the best wingers in the National Premier, he scored 13 goals in 123 games for Forest Green, and would have won promotion to League Two but for a switch to Motherwell in January 2017.

Frear has since made 60 appearances in the Scottish Premier League, but last summer's move to Hearts did not work out, with the a dad of two admitting to feeling homesick for his native Exeter.

Speaking prior to joining Bath, he said: “I was in Scotland. My wife was bringing up the kids in the south west. It was hard. I was going to training, coming back and lying in my bed. It was like being a student.

“I'm done with moving away now. My wife has just had our second, six weeks old. We want them to go to school down here. I want to be more settled and just be a dad, which I haven't been for the last couple of years.”
