■ WORKINGTON extended their advantage at the top of the table to fi ve points with a narrow win at Widnes.
The Reds went close after just 13 minutes, but Widnes shot-stopper Owen Wheeler made a superb stop to deny a Steven Rigg effort.
Skipper Sam Smith had a header cleared off the line by his opposite number Fisnik Hajdari, as Chris Willcock’s side showed their quality.
