WALLINGFORD TOWN’S Lawrie Aitchison probably thought his part-time goalie heroics were complete for one season after saving two in their FA Vase penalty shoot-out – then the defender-turned-goalie went one better in the first round by saving three!
The 21-year-old is a centre back by trade but woke on Saturday morning to a message from boss Lee Matthews to bring his gloves.
It came after their second round qualifying epic against Bishops Cleeve when the Step 6 side turned around a 4-2 deficit in the final minutes before winning a dramatic shoot-out.
