Nicholson wants FA Cup heroics to inspire Gateshead to higher heights

ALEX Nicholson reckons Gateshead’s surprise FA Cup first round replay win at Altrincham proves the Heed could cope with life at a higher level.
Many thought the National League North club had blown their chance to progress into round two when they wasted a two-goal lead in the first meeting of the sides at the International Stadium.
But Mike Williamson’s men produced a fine display as top goalscorer Macaulay Langstaff fired a decisive late goal to give the Heed a 3-2 win in Tuesday night’s replay at the J. Davidson Stadium.
That sets up a televised second round tie again...
