NEW manager Max Mitchell is backing Welwyn Garden City to put last season’s misery behind them and launch a fresh promotion assault.
The Citizens stormed their way into the Southern Division One Central playoffs last season but were then blocked from competing due to their Herns Lane ground failing grading requirements.
Then-boss Nick Ironton walked out and, to make matters even worse for the Hertfordshire club, North Leigh, who replaced them in the knockout finale, went onto win promotion.
