BIRTLEY TOWN 2 ILKLEY TOWN 1

NORTHERN LEAGUE side Birtley Town came from behind to edge past visitors Ilkley, both of the hosts’ goals coming from the penalty spot.
Ilkley took the lead midway through the first half when Shaban Mehmeti found the corner of the net. Birtley’s response was immediate. From the kick-off, Aidan Rutledge was brought down in the box and then converted from 12-yards.
The winner arrived a minute before the break. Callum Smith was impeded this time in the penalty area and Rutledge again made no mistake from the spot.
