REES TO THE RESCUE AS MARTYRS LEAVE IT LATE

A LATE goal from Ricardo Rees kept Merthyr Town’s hopes alive as both sides had to settle for a replay after a pulsating contest.
It was the Martyrs who built early momentum, coming close after just four minutes. Noah Smerdon fired a brilliant ball across the face of goal but Rees, the club’s leading goal scorer, couldn’t find the finishing touch.
With Merthyr dominating large spells of the possession in the first half, the closest the away side came to an opener was when Austen Booth tried his luck from his own...
