WHITBY won just their second home match of the season to edge past Prescot Cables from the division below.
It was a cagey opening as NPL West Cables, roared on by nearly 100 travelling supporters, enjoyed some early pressure.
Francis Smith clipped narrowly over from the edge of the box then moments later Kyle Sambor sliced wide from an acute angle.
Whitby punished their Merseyside visitors, on 23 minutes, when Mitchell Allen couldn’t hold Jacob Gratton’s drive from distance and big Connor Smith was on hand to slot home...
