SEFTON Gonzales scored twice, including a 90th-minute winner, as Clitheroe edged Widnes.
Defences were long on top in this contest that was played in monsoonlike conditions at times.
Gonzales had an early snap-shot beaten away by a low Cameron Terry save, while Hakan Burton produced a fine stop to parry Sean Miller’s shortly before the halftime break.
Clitheroe launched their own attack within moments of Burton’s save and were ahead with Gonzales slotting beyond Terry.
