■ ONLY ONE league match was played in the Essex Senior as the Errington Challenge Cup took top priority.
Hullbridge Sports scored twice in the league’s cup competition and hung on to beat hosts Saffron Walden Town at Catons Lane. Jay Leader got the opener after 20 minutes and their lead was doubled by Adam Topley in first-half added time.
Saffron Walden pulled one back through Tom Head after 65 minutes but couldn’t find an equaliser.
