THE FA Sunday Cup will celebrate its 50th birthday at Stadium MK next weekend when Highgate Albion and North Solihull Athletic will attempt to lift the trophy for the first time.
Sunday football was only fully recognised by The FA in 1960, prior to which many played under assumed names to avoid disciplinary action.
This season’s competition attracted 127 entrants – the highest number in a decade – and featured exotically name outfits such as Pineapple FC, Brewster Plumbing and East London Ballers, who themselves reached the sem...
