WELWYN Garden City edged out Beaconsfield with a hard-fought victory, decided by Layne Eadie’s second-half strike.
The opening ten minutes promised an entertaining afternoon, with both sides creating chances.
Beaconsfield almost struck first when Zak Fraser-Grant raced clear, only to be denied by a superb save from Foster.
The game soon became scrappy with frequent stoppages. Beaconsfield squandered set-pieces, while Welwyn fired wide from good positions. The visitors finished the half on top, though the contest lacked real quality at the break.
