MERSTHAM made up for an opening-day defeat to prevail in an action-packed fivegoal encounter with Deal.
The Moatsiders couldn’t shake the hosting Hoops for the majority of the game.
The eighth minute saw Sam King give the visitors the lead, before Tom Chapman struck back just two minutes later as the majority of the 420 in attendance played a big role.
Just before the interval, that slender lead was restored again with Finlay Johnson’s smart finish, with Lee Tony Lewis’ goal adding further momentum.
