Martyn Waghorn grew up with Jordan Henderson, played alongside Wayne Rooney at Derby County and shared a Leicester City dressing room with Jamie Vardy.
But ask the 36-year-old striker to name his most talented teammate and one of England’s great lost talents comes instantly to mind.
“I go back to my early days in the England set-up, the Under-17s or Under-18s,” recalls Waghorn, who scored 135 goals in 527 games during a career spent almost exclusively in the top two tiers of English football.
