Injury-hit Sam suffers setback

ASHTON United centre-back Sam Baird has made the decision to step away for football after suffering a setback in his recovery ahead of the new season.
Baird, who has made 158 appearances in six years with the NPL Premier Robins, was scheduled to return for the new campaign after a long period of rehabilitation following his injury in October.
But now after his return was delayed further, the 27-year-old has decided to step away to focus on his long-term recovery.
