BANGOR LEGEND TO LEAD APOLLO

MICHAEL Johnston, who recently left Bangor City after a 17-year association with the club, has become the new manager of Step 6 new boys Halewood Apollo, writes ROBIN JONES.
Johnston, 38, stood down from his four-year stint as manager of the Welsh club last month after a 2-1 victory over Cymru North leaders Brick-field Rangers, citing family and work commitments.
It ended a near two decades with the club which started as a player with the old Bangor City, yielding over 250 appearances, a Premier League title and a Welsh Cup before its withdrawal from the league in 2022.
