AS a Sutton United supporter for nearly 40 years, I didn’t recognise the description of my club in George Williams’s letter (Fans’ Forum, September 13).
Whereas it’s true that the club is now majority-owned by US investors, any further comparison with Wrexham is pretty ludicrous.
When Sutton unexpectedly won promotion to the EFL in 2021, the club had to professionalise rapidly. This required significant expenditure, and without investment it’s doubtful whether the step up could have been taken.
