Maidstone United dismiss rumours linking Jay Saunders with Macclesfield Town

The long-standing Stones boss was the odds-on favourite to take over at Macclesfield Town after John Askey left the Silkmen for Shrewsbury.

But Williams has dismissed the rumours, saying: “Over the past day or so, there has been rumour and speculation over the future of our manager Jay Saunders.
“To put an end to that, I can confirm that Jay is committed to Maidstone United and will be continuing the role he’s had with the club since 2011.
“We are all looking forward to what is going to be a very exciting season and Jay, along with his management team of Steve Watt and Harrison Grant, are busy preparing their pre-season programme and looking to add players to the existing squad.”
