Maidstone United have been successful in their appeal of Elliott Romain’s red card on Saturday.
The Stones lost 5-2 at Havant and Waterlooville with Romain sent off in the 33rd minute.
With Maidstone a goal behind, the striker clashed with defender Rory Williams and referee Simeon Lucas brandished a straight red cards.
Manager Harry Wheeler fumed afterwards: “Elliott’s red card absolutely killed us. It’s never even a yellow card. I hope they do the right thing and overturn it.”
The club submitted an appeal on Saturday evening and after considering the claim, the FA ruled it to be a case of wrongful dismissal.
Romain’s pending three match suspension has been removed and he is now eligible to play in tonight’s fixture against Eastleigh at the Gallagher Stadium.
Maidstone added: “We would like to thank the FA’s regulation committee for considering our appeal today and for the ruling they gave. Thanks also to club cameraman John Gooch for providing the footage that enabled our claim to be considered.”
