National League strugglers Chesterfield have announced that midfielder Zavon Hines has left the club after his contract was cancelled.
The highly rated 29-year-old winger arrived at the Proact Stadium last January after leaving Maidstone United and has been a regular in Martin Allen’s side so far this season.
Hines departure was widely expected after he was put up for transfer at the start of the week, with Allen stating: “Kyel Reid, Marc-Antoine Fortune and Zavon Hines all live down in London and it’s best for them and for us to find clubs in the London area. I am not going into further details as to why I’ve had to make this decision”.
The Jamaican midfielder began his career with West Ham United, where he made 22 first team appearances, before leaving for Burnley.
Since then Hines has represented a range of clubs including the likes of Bradford City, Dagenham & Redbridge and Southend United.
