Hakan Hayrettin has stepped down from his role as manager of Braintree Town to join John Still at Maidstone United.
Hayrettin landed the Iron job after impressing as caretaker manager, but the club remains bottom of the National League.
Maidstone are set to appoint a new head of football, which is believed to be veteran John Still, who left Barnet today where he was working in the same role. Hayrettin is set to join the Stones as head coach.
Assistant manager Danny Searle will take on responsibility of Braintree’s first team.
Braintree chairman Lee Harding said: “When Hakan offered to help in October, we’d won only once in fifteen matches and then, with the same players, immediately picked up seven points from the next three games.
“Sadly, with some players not secured on contract, it was then easy for other clubs to tempt some away, and results then suffered. Recently we’ve seen the benefits of the re-building work that both Hakan and Danny have been putting in place and results over the past month or so have started to improve. We wish Hakan all the best for the future.
“Looking forward, we have sixteen cup finals and forty-eight points up for grabs. Personally, I believe we still have something to play for this season and so ask you all to get behind Danny and the lads – starting at Hartlepool on Saturday. Come on you Iron!”
