Paul Scholes resigns as Salford City director

The former Manchester United midfielder has been handed the managerial role at Oldham Athletic.

Paul Scholes

Salford City have confirmed that Paul Scholes will resign as a director but continue to hold his 10% stake in the National League club after taking the managerial role at Oldham Athletic.
With Salford gunning for promotion this season, a situation could well arise where Scholes will come up against the Ammies in League Two next season.
However, Salford have confirmed that while Scholes will formally resign as a director of the club, he has decided to continue being a shareholder.
An official club statement read, “Salford City Football Club is delighted that Paul Scholes has accepted the role of Football Manager at Oldham Athletic AFC,”
“Although Paul was never operational in Salford City he will resign as a director of the football club, allowing him to focus completely on his new role at Oldham.
“From the start we have always said that each of the Class of ’92 would offer different levels of commitment dependant on their individual roles. Salford City is a long term interest for the Co92 and Paul will retain his 10% shareholding in the Club.
“It is great that Paul is back in football and everyone at the club wishes him all the best in his new venture into football management!”
