Paul Scholes leaves Oldham Athletic

Salford City co-owner Paul Scholes has left his role as manager of League Two side Oldham Athletic after just 31 days in charge.
The former Manchester United midfielder took the job on the 11th February and guided the Latics to one win, three draws and two defeats.
Scholes was given permission to take the managerial role at Boundary Park by the FA as it was deemed his ten per cent shareholding in Salford was not big enough to warrant a potential conflict of interest.
In a statement, Scholes said: “It unfortunately became clear that I would not be able to operate as I intended and was led to believe prior to taking on the role/
“I hoped to at the very least, see out my initial term of 18 months as the manager of a club I’ve supported all my life. The fans, players, my friends and family all knew how proud and excited I was to take this role,” he added.
“I wish the fans, the players and the staff – who have been tremendous – all the best for the rest of the season and will continue to watch and support the club as a fan.”
Following last weekend’s defeat a Lincoln City, Oldham are currently sitting in 14th position in the League Two table.
