It’s Miller time again as Ricky returns to Dover Athletic

legend Ricky Miller has returned to Crabble to cap a frantic week of transfer activity for boss Andy Hessenthaler.

Miller, 32, scored 60 goals in 86 appearances following a move from Luton Town, including a remarkable tally of 45 in 46 matches in the 2016-17 campaign.

Named Player of the Year, he subsequently joined League One Peterborough United but failed to settle at London Road.

Moves to Port Vale and Aldershot also fell flat, and Miller has now opted to help Dover battle back from the 12-point deduction controversially imposed by the National League for failing to fulfil fixtures. “Everybody knows Ricky,” said Hessenthaler. “He's a legend here, scored all those goals for the club.

“To have enticed him back – given our situation – is fantastic news.

“We know he scores goals and this is the place where he found his best form, so hopefully it will be the perfect match again.”

Miller was one of eight players to sign on at Crabble in the space of just two days this week, with former Wednesday defender Reda Johnson, 33, joining as player-coach.

Skipper Sam Wood, 34, has committed to another season, while former forward Ben Williamson has been signed to partner Miller. Khale Da Costa, Seth Twumasi, Travis Gregory and James Caton have also agreed terms.
