DEAL: Joey Jones

ALTRINCHAM boss Phil Parkinson says “gifted” midfielder Joey Jones will add a whole new dimension to his side’s engine room – and they’ve also sealed the return of fan favourite Chris Conn- Clarke.

He also made 21 appearances for Salford City in League Two and won caps for the Northern Ireland Under-21 side. Jones joined Solihull last season but was released in May.

“Joey comes with a fantastic pedigree and a wealth of experience of higher level clubs,” said Parkinson. “This is something we’ve identified as being a priority when recruiting all the new players this season.

“He is a technically gifted player.”

Jones isn’t the only new arrival at Alty. Striker Dior Angus, right-back Lewis Banks and centre-back Sam Roscoe are all on board as the Robins prepare for their second season as a full-time club.

Former Wrexham and Barrow man Angus, 29, has arrived from League Two Harrogate Town, while Banks, 26, has been snapped up from Scottish Championship outfit Arbroath. The Englishman previously enjoyed European football with Sligo Rovers.

Towering defender Roscoe has made the switch from Northern Irish outfit Linfield. The Manchester-born player, who turned 25 on Friday, started out with Aberdeen and then moved to Ayr United before joining Linfield.

Conn-Clarke was a big hit on loan last season before being recalled by Fleetwood and making a temporary move to Waterford in Ireland before Alty forked out a club record fee.
