Gateshead 4-1 Ebbsfleet United: Wearne’s treble has the Heed on a high

Gateshead made it eight goals in two games this week as National League newcomers Ebbsfleet were given a reality check on a windswept Tyneside.

GATESHEAD made it eight goals in two games this week as National League newcomers Ebbsfleet were given a reality check on a windswept Tyneside.
Stephen Wearne, who tormented the Fleet throughout, was the Heed hero with a hat-trick, Dennis Kutrieb’s side never recovering after gifting Gateshead the decisive second goal.
That came early in the second half, a rampant Heed then ripping Ebbsfleet apart, the visitors fortunate not to leak more than four goals.
