Match Preview: Gateshead v Oxford City (Saturday, 3pm)

Gateshead face Oxford City on Saturday seeking to protect their long unbeaten run in the National League.

The Tynesiders are unbeaten in five, with four wins and one draw, ahead of the 3pm kick-off.

They face an Oxford team who have drawn one and lost four over the same number of games.

Oxford are bottom of the table after 35 games, of which they have won seven and drawn seven, earning 28 points.

Gateshead are 18 places ahead of City in sixth, with 15 wins and eight draws putting them on 53 points.

With 60 goals in 32 games so far this season, the Tynesiders are the league’s third-highest scorers with 1.9 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 43 goals at a rate of 1.3 per game.

The away side, meanwhile, are below average scorers, with 1.3 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.5. They have conceded 2.1 goals per game.

Gateshead’s last match was on Tuesday, a 2-0 win against Kidderminster Harriers, with Callum Whelan and Mamadou Jobe getting the goals for the Tynesiders.

Oxford lost 5-2 against Eastleigh last time out, also on Tuesday, with Alfie Potter and Levi Lumeka on the scoresheet.
