Rochdale sign Connor McBride

Rochdale sign

National League side Rochdale have signed Connor McBride from Gateshead.

The winger is ‘dale’s first signing of the summer, having won the FA Trophy and finished in the top six in his only season at Gateshead last term.

The Scot was on Celtic’s books between 2019 and 2020. He’s also represented Stenhousemuir, Queen’s Park and Raith Rovers in his homeland, as well as two years in Blackburn Rovers’ U21 setup.

McBride credited manager Jim McNulty as a main reason for joining.

Speaking to the official Rochdale AFC website, McBride said:

“They were in the league only a couple of years ago and have a good fanbase. Most importantly, the manager is the reason I joined.

“The way he sees the game is similar to how I see it. The style of play suits me and I can’t wait to work for him. It made it an easy decision for me to come. He wants to get the ball down and play, which suits me, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Rochdale finished 11th last season in their first season outside the Football League for 102 years.
