Proud boss Carl Magnay hailed his Gateshead side after this victory at fellow promotion chasers Forest Green Rovers in the National League late kick-off.
A brace from Jovan Malcom and a second-half goal from Liam Humbles were enough to ensure back-to-back wins for the Heed.
Despite a late freak own goal from keeper George Shelvey and a stoppage-time second from Christian Doidge, the visitors held on for the three points.
