FC Halifax Town 1-2 Gateshead

Bottom-of-the-table Gateshead ended a run of 13 successive National League defeats with a 2-1 victory over Halifax at the Shay Stadium.

Goals from captain Kenton Richardson and Mark Beck helped Rob Elliot’s side register their first win in the division since September 30 – a run of 16 games.

The visitors took a ninth-minute lead when Richardson fired in the rebound – the defender’s first goal since August 2024 – after Beck’s header was saved by Sam Johnson.

Will Harris, with seven goals in a five-game scoring run, came close to an equaliser against his former club but visiting goalkeeper Peter Jameson was equal to the task.

Beck converted from the spot three minutes into the second half and despite half-time substitute Angelo Cappello reducing the deficit in the 56th minute, Heed held on to give their survival hopes a massive shot in the arm

Rochdale 1-1 Scunthorpe United

Rochdale climbed to the top of the National League after drawing 1-1 with Scunthorpe at the Crown Oil Arena.

Scunthorpe opened the scoring in the 17th minute when red-hot Callum Roberts fired in from range, his 15th league goal of the season and 10th in nine games.

But Dale hit back 15 minutes later, with Ryan East slotting in to level things up.

The draw extended Jimmy McNulty side’s unbeaten run to nine matches and moved them one point above promotion rivals York City, with a game in hand.

Sutton United 2-1 Woking

Ten-man Sutton coped admirably with the first-half dismissal of goalkeeper Chris Haigh to escape the National League relegation zone with a 2-1 home victory over Woking.

Kai Jennings only needed four minutes to score, the teenage AFC Wimbledon loanee grabbing his first league goal since November by picking out the bottom corner after collecting Brandon Njoku’s pass and skipping past Jamie Andrews.

But Woking were soon level as Jack Turner capitalised on some sloppy defending to fire the ball past Haigh.

Njoku, who notched against Braintree Town last time out, turned scorer with a scrambled finish to restore Sutton’s lead in the 27th minute, yet there was to be another twist as Haigh saw red for clattering clumsily into an onrushing Matt Ward.

However, Sutton not only survived but thrived after the break as Lewis Simper enjoyed numerous chances to extend their lead – including hitting the bar – while replacement keeper David Aziaya denied Ward and Roy Syla to frustrate mid-table Woking.

Yeovil Town 1-2 Aldershot Town

Sean Patton scored the decisive goal as Aldershot won 2-1 at Yeovil.

Aldershot took the lead in the seventh minute when Olly Scott found the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Fulham loanee Terrell Works equalised for Yeovil after 26 minutes before Jed Ward kept out James Henry on the stroke of half-time to keep the teams level at the break.

The visitors regained the lead in the 74th minute when on-loan Reading forward Patton headed home.
