Aldershot Town have agreed a mutual termination with manager John Coleman, who will leave the club after Saturday’s final game of the season against Truro City.

Coleman, appointed in October following Tommy Widdrington’s departure, will take charge for one final time at the EBB Stadium as the Shots look to end their campaign on a positive note.

The former Accrington Stanley boss arrived with more than 25 years of managerial experience but inherited a difficult situation, with Aldershot sitting 19th in the National League.

By early December, the Shots were seven points adrift in the relegation zone after picking up just 13 points.

Reset

However, a strong turnaround in form, aided by key additions to the squad, saw Coleman guide the club to safety.

Chairman Deane Wood thanked Coleman for steering the Shots clear of danger, but felt a change was needed following “the recent run of results” to give the club “the best possible chance of a reset in the summer”.

A club statement read: “The club can confirm that after a meeting took place today at The EBB Stadium with Deane Wood and John Coleman, both have agreed a mutual termination of John Coleman’s contract here at Aldershot Town.

“John will remain in charge for the final game of the season this Saturday vs Truro, so please join us in giving John a loud and proud send off.”

The Shots have also confirmed that player-coach James Henry will leave the club after the Truro fixture, bringing an end to his two-year spell at the club.

Henry made 83 appearances and scored 22 goals, playing a key role both on and off the pitch during his time at the club.
