When the final whistle blew, Stuart Maynard’s York City and their 800-plus travelling supporters celebrated what could be a crucial victory in their bid to clinch the National League title – but the Minstermen boss knew his side were handed a stern test by a hard-working and stubborn Tamworth side.
“This is the toughest place to come in the league,” Maynard conceded. “It’s a tight, old-style football ground and you always feel under pressure, but we dug deep and rolled our sleeves up so we’re delighted with the three points.”
