National League South side Torquay United have been deducted a point for fielding an ineligible player.

Having already had 10 points docked last month for entering administration, the Gulls have received further punishment ahead of this weekend’s trip to Bath City.

The league table will be amended which sees the Gulls drop a place to 19th, four points clear of the relegation zone with three matches remaining.

The National League issued a statement on Friday, April 12:

“The Independent Panel ruled Torquay United Football Club were deemed guilty of one breach of Rule 6.9 for failing to ensure all players were not under suspension prior to participating in a match – therefore fielding an ineligible player.

“The Panel concluded that one point gained from the fixture should be deducted from the Club’s record from playing season 2023/24 plus a fine of £750.”
