CRAIG Westcarr’s volley for Grantham cancelled out Nathan Lowe’s firsthalf effort as the Gingerbreads took an unlikely point from leaders South Shields.
The visitors started brightly with Rob Atkinson hitting the woodwork before James Barrett forced a good save from Myles Boney on the counter-attack. Shields grew into the game with Sanmi Odelusi’s glancing header agonisingly close to beating Sam Andrew at the far post.
Lowe eventually gave the Mariners the lead and it was a key moment in the game.
