A SEASON that promises much started at blistering pace at the Impact Arena. It looked as if Alfreton would take an early lead, but the outstretched Craig Westcarr couldn’t meet Andre Johnson’s low cross on two minutes.
Despite the string of half chances for both sides, it was a defender who opened the scoring for Alfreton on 40 minutes, as Luke Shiels classily hooked in Sam Topliss’s flicked throwin on from eight yards.
